My current plan is to base the piece on spectral and phonetic analyses of either my own voice or some other speech recording. A prominent aspect of the piece is that the performers will actually be pronouncing some of the phonemes from the speech recordings (notated using IPA symbols) while using combinations of different percussion instruments to “imitate” the remaining phonemes, thus creating hybrid “words” and “phrases.” The piece will most likely require an extensive set of beaters in order to facilitate the imitation of different phonetic articulations.

Il invite également 2 jeunes compositeurs à écrire une œuvre originale à l'occasion de cette master class. Ces derniers bénéficient en outre des conseils de Philippe Leroux pour finaliser leur pièce. Ainsi le programme est partagé entre jeune création et œuvres emblématiques de grands maîtres, John Luther Adams, Steve Reich et Philippe Leroux, compositeur invité de ManiFeste-2016.
