The resource center includes the online catalog of the media library, as well as access to Ircam's documentary databases and audiovisual archives.
24 October marked the centenary of Luciano Berio. The Italian composer had a profound impact on the history of contemporary music through his major works (Laborintus II, the Sequenze series, and Coro) and his involvement in musical institutions such as the RAI Phonology Studio in Milan, which he founded in 1955, and the Tempo Reale institute, which he created in Florence in 1987, drawing on his experience as director of the electroacoustic department at IRCAM between 1974 and 1980.
Pierre Boulez, founder of Ircam, confronted his musical writing with that of electronics, first using magnetic tapes, then live electronics, and finally transforming sound in real time. An exhibition at the mediatheque documents some of the pieces with electronics that have marked his work, to be discovered from 13 May to 19 December, Tuesday through Friday, from 2pm to 5:30pm.
The media library presents a selection of its new acquisitions, and invites you to discover the summary of 2024 acquisitions.
The purpose of the documentation center is to build up and disseminate a body of references on contemporary music, on the relationship between art, science and technology, and on musical research. It also brings together all of the Institute's knowledge and creative resources: concert and conference archives, scores, scientific and popular articles, etc. All these resources are available to the public through the Ircam media library (open Tuesday to Friday, 2:00 to 5:30 pm) and the databases accessible through the portal.
La médiathèque de l'Ircam est ouverte au public du mardi au vendredi, de 14h à 17h30. La consultation est ouverte à tout le monde, l'emprunt est soumis à abonnement.
